The Centre has established strong links with Praxis, a community organization working with migrants, asylum seekers and refugees in the East End of London. This has led to numerous collaborations, including a summer school for young separated refugees.
Praxis is a community based organisation situated in Tower Hamlets. It supports refugees, asylum seekers and other vulnerable migrants. It is rooted in community development methodology and human rights principles. Its services include advice work, vocational training, ESOL, interpreting, job preparation. Doctors of the World run a health clinic within Praxis' premises.
Praxis coordinates the Tower Hamlets New Residents and Refugee Forum bringing together community members with front line staff and senior managers from statutory services. It finds practical solutions to community concerns. Praxis organises the annual New Voices Festival which celebrates the cultural diversity of East London and the contribution of new communities.
Praxis works with young asylum seekers, and with women who are victims of trafficking. It has a special expertise in working with people with no recourse to public funds.
There are opportunities for working together in the areas of research and policy formulation so that Praxis' work is evidence based and rooted in thoughtful analysis.
