About us

The Medical College of Saint Bartholomew’s Hospital Trust promotes the advancement of all aspects of medical and dental education and research at Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry.

The late Sir Anthony Dawson, physician to Her Majesty The Queen and later Head of Her Majesty’s Medical Household established the Trust on 1 June 1986.

In 1995, the Medical College of Saint Bartholomew's Hospital merged with Queen Mary and Westfield College and The London Hospital Medical College, and became the combined School of Medicine and Dentistry of Queen Mary. Since this date, the Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry has formed part of Queen Mary University of London.

At the same time, the freehold of land and property north of Charterhouse Square was transferred to the independent ownership of the Trust by Act of Parliament.

The Trust merged with The Barts Foundation for Research in 2008.
